The 2019 edition of Osun NUJ Inter Chapel Soccer competition began on Tuesday, 8th October, 2019 with two matches played at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
In the first game of the day, it was a walk in the park for the Correspondent Chapel, who had an easy-ride over the fumbling Osun Defender, who were led in attack by the soft, pot-belle Osun NUJ Chairman Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji who was caged from hitting the back of the net in the free scoring encounter.
Jide Idowu of Correspondent Chapel starred in the encounter, scoring the first hat-trick of the 2019 edition while one goal each by Lateef Dada, Adekunle Idris and Babatunde Lateef completed the 6-3 thrashing of Osun Defender who halved the scoreline through a brace by Ismail Uthman and one by Taofeek Adejare.
In the second match, the unlucky Local Government Chapel were left disappointed as their several weeks of training, shining complete jersey as well as their moral and financial support by their neatly suit-kitted leaders and beautiful female supporters produced no goal against a little-organized Federated Chapel who ended the match with just 9 players.
Federated Chapel should have their goalkeeper,Adejumo Kehinde to thank as he made about 20 good saves in a highly dominated encounter by the Local Government who were also denied by the woodwork on several occasions.
Matches continue on Friday when last year’s runners up, Uniq FM Ilesa will trade tackles with a coward NTA, whose match against the unprepared defending champions, OSBC could not be held.
Also on Friday, State Information will slug it out against Federated Chapel while the boastful Rave FM will ambush Correspondent Chapel.
All matches will take place at the mainbowl of the Osogbo Township Stadium beginning from 9am prompt when the formal kick off is expected to be done by Honourable Lawrence Ayeni.
