
Hammola Int’l Football Club, Ido Osun during the weekend defeated 3FC, Ifon Osun via penalties to emerge champions of the Maiden edition of Abiola Foundation Football Competition.
The interesting encounter, played at the Ifon-Erin Grammar School lived up to expectations with mesmerizing displays and scintillating performances by the two teams, who failed to find back of the net during the regulation time.
The reigning Osun FA Cup Champions, Hammola could have won in the second half through Alabi Kabir and Isiaq Ibrahim who were prevented from causing havoc by the gallant defensive duo of 3FC.
Meanwhile, Hammola FC’s shotstopper, Olarewaju Isiak was the hero during the shootout as he saved two spot kicks while Awoeyo Ajibola, who took the last spot kick, sent 3FC goalkeeper, Asunmo Ismail the wrong way to throw the mammoth Hammola FC supporters into a wild jubilation
This victory over 3FC was the third in less than three months for Hammola Int’l FC, having won Osun FA Cup in August and Unique Egalitarian Soccer Championship in September.
Speaking after the game in Ifon Osun, Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) Hammola FC, Muhydeen Odeyemi described the victory as deserving and lauded the resilient efforts of his coaching crew, players as well as supporters of the club.
“I thank God for the victory and am happy with the current form of our players after our participation in the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO 1) and the recently concluded Optimal Energy Gold Cup in Ikenne. These competitions, together with the unity among the coaching and technical crew and the players have shaped our team and helped us improve tremendously.
“We are not going to rest on our oars. We aim high and we want to shoot high. Our next target is to end the year by winning the upcoming Hammola Football Championship in Ido Osun which has been evading us since 2020. I believe that with our current form, we are a team to beat”, said the young football club proprietor
Hammola are also presently at the FC Ebedei Stadium, Shagamu, Ogun State for a 2-day Invitational Tournament.
