SEVEN months after the inauguration of the 9th Senate, the Deputy Speaker, Senator Ovie Omo Agege, All Progressives Congress, APC, Delta Central chaired the Plenary for the first time on Thursday.
Omo-Agege rose to occupy the seat in plenary at 11:30 a.m. after the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan sought to leave the room to allow him to deal with other national questions outside the Assembly national.
The opportunity for him to chair came seven months after he was elected to deputize for the Speaker of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, in June 2019.
Let us recall that there had been concerns in certain circles, in particular on the part of those who wanted to see his own style of leadership to know if Omo-Agege would ever chair the plenary.
After taking the driver's seat, the House was delighted to see some legislators express their happiness.
