28-year-old man dies in Kano swimming pool

THE Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday confirmed that a 28-year-old man lost his life, while swimming in a pond at Dorayi, Gwazaye Village in the Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

In a press statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Agency, Saminu Abdullahi, said the fire service received a distress call from one Dorayi Babba at 12:27 pm that one Rabi’u Dorayi had drowned in a pond while swimming.

According to Saminu Yusuf, a rescue team was immediately mobilised to the scene, where the victim was rescued unconscious but later confirmed dead.

In another development, the state fire service also succeeded in rescuing two persons involved in a road accident.

The Public Relations Officer disclosed that a private car conveying one Shuaibu Ibrahim and Shinayi, aged 25 and 17 years respectively hit a streetlight pole, adding that the victims were conveyed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for medical attention.

To this end, he called on Kano residents, particularly drivers, to always abide by rules and regulations while driving and also desist from local swimming, especially by young and underage children.
