Spanish side UD Almería have confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar from Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade on a five-year deal.
Umar, who had struggled to fulfill his early potential, revived his career at Belgrade, where he scored 17 goals with 17 assists in 39 matches across all competitions in the 2019/20 season.
His impressive performance saw a host of European clubs vying for his signature with Premier League giants Manchester United reportedly among clubs interested in the 6ft4in striker.
But Almeria announced on their Twitter handle on Monday that the 23-year-old will be wearing the red and white jersey for the next five years.
“Umar Sadiq is Rojiblanco! Almería and FK Partizan agreed the transfer of the striker for five seasons,” the club tweeted.
“Welcome! Raising hands #SadiqRojiblanco.”
Umar has scored six goals and assisted twice from 10 matches in the ongoing season.
