Aragbiji Attends the Stage Performance of “Oba Koso” Presented in Honour of the Late Duro Ladipo

Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, the widely extolled Aragbiji of Iragbiji on Friday 11th March, 2022 joined a host of distinguished personalities to witness the live performance of the epic play “Oba Koso” which was wonderfully staged at the Ulli Beier Hall, Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding, Osogbo, Osun State.

The stage drama was held to mark the 44th year remembrance of Duro Ladipo who was a legendary actor in his days and an icon whose works are still relevant in the field of art even till this day.

Oba Olabomi commended the performance as he said the delivery was a masterpiece and appreciated everyone who made the play such a huge success especially the family of the Late Duro Ladiipo. He then appreciated the Executive Director of the Centre for Black Culture & Int’l Understanding, Prof. Siyan Oyeweso for the excellent work himself and his team are doing to keep the memory of industry legends evergreen in the minds of the people by celebrating them and their creative works of art even when they’re long gone. He urged the Professor not to relent as more works of art needs to be well appreciated and the Yoruba culture well preserved so it can be passed on rightly to the next generation.

HRM Aragbiji then applauded the second wife of the late Duro Ladipo as her live performance at the occasion wowed the crowd as she played around with her beautiful voice which was short but captivating.

Oba Olabomi eulogized the family of Duro Ladiipo for keeping the memories alive admonishing them to raise up another DURO Ladiipo Thearter Company with similar vision with the Cultural Icon in content and in performance.

Lastly, the Royal Father then urged everyone sitted to emulate the lifestyle of the man who was celebrated and apply the valuable lessons from his life so as to leave a lasting legacy in their chosen career path by choosing to stay courageous, dedicated, committed resilient and disciplined.

He prayed for the continued success of the Centre for Black Culture & Int’l Understanding, artistes around the world and the field of art as a whole.
