
Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyiochia Ayu, and members of the committee set up for the purpose of picking the party’s running mate, are currently holding a closed-door meeting in Abuja.
The meeting, which is taking place the party’s National Secretariat was likened to be a move to pick the running mate of Abubakar Atiku where Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa is likely to emerge.
People in the meeting, according to the Punch include the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; former Senate President, David Mark; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, and Senator Philip Aduda, among others.
Meanwhile, A group of lawmakers in the House of Representatives, the Progressives of the Peoples Democratic Party, yesterday named three persons for consideration as running mate to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
Party’s lawmakers who met in Abuja have considered the option of recommending Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as the Vice Presidential candidate.
Others being considered by the lawmakers are Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, parties have until June 17, 2022, as the final day for the submission of candidates for the presidential election.
