It’s a first Grand Slam final appearance for Aryna Sabalenka, who is naturally delighted to be in with a chance of lifting the trophy on Saturday after previously winning the doubles here in Melbourne.
“I’m super happy that I was able to get this win,” Sabalenka said. “She’s [Linette] an unbelievable player, she played great tennis, and I’m just super happy right now.
“I would say I didn’t start really well and in the [first set] tie-break I just found my rhythm, started trusting myself, and going for my shots.
“Just being in the final of this kind of tournament is amazing, to feel the atmosphere and play on these courts.
“It’s going to be a great one and I’m looking forward to this final.
