CAF Bans ‘Former Best Journalist’ For 5 Years

A journalist has been banned for sexual abuse at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

The journalist, according to a report, was once named as “best sports journalist of all time” in his country and has been banned for five years for sexual abuse of a Moroccan lady during the ongoing African Nations Championship in Algeria.

The journalist, whose name is withheld, is from the Benin Republic and works as a media official for CAF.
He was accused of sexually abusing a Moroccan official after inviting her to his Algiers hotel room, following her request for an all-access pass.

The victim reportedly filed her statement to the Algerian police and the accused journalist has since been sanctioned by the CAF and is believed to have returned to Benin Republic.

At the time of the incident, the journalist was employed by CAF to cover the African Nations Championship (CHAN) on a freelance basis.

The football governing body has not yet released a statement on the matter. The accused journalist was named by the Francophone Observatory Medias Success Plus as the “best sports journalist of all time.” Following his long-standing career as a correspondent at the French radio station (RFI) for over 20 years, in which they praised his “constant search for perfection.
