CONVID -19: The Anambra Government campaigns in hotels, schools

Anambra State government has taken campaigns of Coronavirus to hotels, motor parks and hinterlands in the state, following the upsurge of the epidemic in many countries.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, says the state has evolved preventive measures to contain Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

He therefore, hailed Governor Willie Obiano’s tremendous support in the healthcare sector

Not only that, the State School Principals have been tasked to take campaigns on preventive measures against Corona virus and Lassa fever to their various schools.

Okpala gave the directive at a sensitisation meeting in collaboration with Ministry of Basic Education to educate the principals on available precautions.

He held a meeting with the Principals at Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) Hall, Awka.

He said that Corona virus and Lassa fever were dangerous viruses that were identified as threat to humans.

He urged all schools, Ministries, Hotels and other establishments in the state to make use of thermometers in their sick bays to check temperatures of students and workforce once there were signs of fever.

He also said that students should be taught how to use their elbows to cover their mouths and nose whenever they were coughing or sneezing instead of using palms.

Okpala, said in case any students travelled to a state, where the viruses had been detected, the persons should alert officials of ministry of health before going to hospital.

Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, urged the principals to educate students and other teachers on dangers of hugging one another this time that these contagious viruses had broken out.

She urged schools that did not have thermometers to meet her for necessary action.

According to her, Obiano administration was interested in the health and welfare of Ndi Anambra.
