Court Nullifies APGA Primary, Orders Fresh Election

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja nullified the All Progressives Grand Alliance governorship primary election held on May 29, 2022 and has given a 14-day ultimatum for a new primary election to be conducted.

Justice Binta Nyako, who presided over the case, gave the order following a suit filed by a governorship aspirant, Chief Chikwe Udensi, challenging the outcome of the primary election.

After losing the election to Professor Greg Ibe, a dissatisfied Udensi went to court.

Justice Nyako ruled that from evidence and testimonies of witnesses,  the primary election the May 29 primary election was “flawed and marred with irregularities.”

Although, Udensi had urged the court to declare him the winner in place of Ibe, the court resorted to order for a fresh primary to be conducted.
