Court Nullifies Osun LG Election, Sacks All Chairmen, Councillors

The Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo has nullified the Local Government Election conducted by Osun Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).


Recall that the election was conducted by the state electoral body (OSIEC) on the 15th October, this year.


Ruling on the matter Justice Ayo-Nathani Emmanuel of the Federal High Court, Osogbo declared the election null and void by for not conducted in consonance with Electoral Act 2022.


The Court also ordered chairmen and councillors elected into the local governments across the state through the process to vacate offices with immediate Effect.

The Peoples Democratic Party had approached the court asking it to stop OSIEC from going ahead with the planned polls.
