COVID-19: 118 Violators of Safety Protocols Sentenced to Community Service in Osun

…..As Enforcement Moves To Ede

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ede, Osun State, today, sentenced 118 violators of the COVID-19 safety protocols to three hours of community service.

It would be recalled that the State Government of Osun, on Sunday August 2, had outlined a new set of punitive measures for non-compliance with the COVID-19 safety protocols in the State amidst the surge in figures of confirmed cases of the infection.

Magistrate Adediwura and Magistrate O. T. Badmus, who ruled against the offenders, said the violators were dealt magnanimous sentence as first offenders, adding that they should desist from conducting themselves in ways that jeopardize the collective safety of every citizen.

The offenders were also placed under the supervision of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, whilst they undertake their community service sentence.

Commenting on the situation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige, expressed surprise at how people had been taking the COVID-19 pandemic with kid’s gloves.

She appealed to the public to assist the government, adding that government of the State of Osun will not relent in its efforts to make sure that the pandemic is eradicated from its territory.
