
Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye has constituted a 10 man standing committee to unravel the validity and authenticity of the state debt profile.
This is coming a week after the revelation of the State’s debt by the Osun Star Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke.
Hon. Owoeye said the committee became imperative against the backdrop of series of reactions that has in the last couple of days trailing the pronouncement of Governor Adeleke over the state debt profile.
During plenary on Wednesday, the House approved the following lawmakers as members of the Committe: Speaker, Right honourable Timothy Owoeye Chairman, Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts honourable Gbenga Abidemi co-chairman one, Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation honourable Adebayo Olodo Co- chairman two, Honourable Kofoworola Adewunmi member, honourable Tunde Olatunji member, Michael Adetoyi member, Babatunde Ibirogba member, Lateef Jayeola, Babatunde Komolafe member, Adiru Abefe member while clerk of the house Mr Simeon Akinwale Amusan is the Secretary of the committee.
The speaker noted that the house has the constitution Power to conduct such investigations in order to beam search light into the matter this is just as he cited section 129 of the constitution to support the action that has just been taken.
Owoeye reiterated the importance of setting records straight most especially in the face of quoting non harmonised and discrepancies figure in order to come out with the exact position so that the narrative of the prospective investors would not be manipulated.
