Gunmen on Monday killed the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Oshimili South chapter, Delta State.
A source in the community told our correspondent that the NULGE chairman, popularly called Sanchino, was killed in front of his wife, who was also shot in the hand.
“The man and his wife were in the vehicle coming back after they dropped their children in school.
“He was a revenue officer in the local government here in Asaba; he was on his way back with his wife when the gunmen shot at them around Camp 74 area of Asaba.
“The man died on the spot, while his wife was rushed to a hospital; she is receiving treatment now. What is happening in Asaba for the past two weeks is shocking. Many people have been killed by cultists,” the source added.
The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the latest murder.
He said, “It is true that the man was shot, but his wife did not die; she is receiving treatment. Though I don’t have the details of the incident now, but I think it is cult-related.”
