DG DSS calls for inter-agency synergy against kidnapping, banditry

The Director-General, Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, has said that only synergy and collaboration by security agencies could address the challenges of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism confronting the nation.

Bichi pointed out that inter-agency synergy was necessary to combat the contemporary threats facing the country, stressing that this was the new paradigm of law enforcement and security management across the world.

Addressing a meeting of the forum of spokespersons of security and response agencies at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, the DG said each agency must bring its wealth of experience and comparative advantage to complement the effort of the others.

He added, “the dynamics of contemporary threats such as kidnapping, terrorism, cattle rustling, cybercrime and other forms of organized criminal activities such as human, drug and currency trafficking which are confronting Nigeria required joint efforts to combat them.

The DSS boss admonished the spokespersons to develop ideas and initiatives that can build trust and promote public confidence in security agencies.
