D’Tigers in must-win battle against Germany

D’Tigers will put their 84-67 loss against Australia in their first game at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics behind them when they battle Germany in their second game on Wednesday.

The match is set to take place 6:00pm Tokyo time on Tuesday (today) and 2:00am Nigerian time on Wednesday.

D’Tigers are rightly rated going into the Olympics after defeating the US and Argentina in pre-Olympics exhibition games.

They were ranked fourth in the Power Rankings for countries taking part in the Olympics before the tournament began.

In badminton, Dorcas Adesokan will file out against South Korea’s An Se-young on Tuesday (today), after losing 2-0 to Spain’s Clara Azurmendi in her opening Group B tie.

Godwin Olofua and Anuoluwapo Opeyori will also play their final men’s badminton doubles Group B match against ROC’s Ivan Sozonov and Vladimir Ivanov.

On Monday, Edem Offiong and Elizabeth Anyanacho both lost in the women’s table tennis and taekwondo events.

Offiong, who had defeated Spain Dora Madarasz in the first round, found American Lily Zhang too powerful as she lost 4-1 after claiming the first game 15-13.

Anyanacho also lost to Nur Takar in the 67kg category of the taekwondo event.
