Eagles vs Liberia: Match tickets not for sale, says LSSC

The Lagos State Sports Commission has said that tickets for Friday’s 2022 World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Liberia will not be sold to “the general public.”

The Super Eagles play the Lone Star in their opening Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Friday with only 5,000 fans allowed into the match venue by the Confederation of Africa Football.

Speaking ahead of the tie, LSSC chairman, Sola Aiyepeku, said the commission would ensure a hitch-free game, adding that the sports body would adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols.

According to him, fans would be allowed in to the stadium strictly by invitation.

“As you know, we hosted the Super Eagles in March, 20 years after they last played in Lagos and we are quite proud of how the various agencies worked together to deliver a largely safe game within very difficult and unique circumstances.

“What really made it all worth it was the excitement and enthusiasm of Lagos residents at the return of the Eagles. We are building on that experience to ensure that the game on Friday goes really well,” Aiyepeku said.
