Adebayo said that, the downward evaluation is very important because the rising usage of Over-The-Top (OTT) services by telecommunications customers is  negatively on affecting the revenue of the operators.

According to him, the operating levy of 2.5 per cent should drop to 1 per cent.

He said, what NCC does is to take the entire turnover, that is all income before tax and before expenses, then take 2.5 percent on it, this is not favorable to operators.

Mr. Adebayo said that, telecommunications companies were losing money, therefore, the need for urgent action by NCC  to salvage the situation.

He said that the OTT service providers use traditional Mobile Network Operator (MNO) infrastructure to offer social networks, voice and instant messaging services to retain users loyalty and drive stickiness.
