Ex-Chelsea Captain, Terry To Sell His Multi-Million-Pound Mansion

Retired British soccer star John Terry, who captained Chelsea F.C. and the England national team during his illustrious playing career, has chopped the price of his multi-million-pound Surrey mansion.

Mr. Terry, 39, cut £500,000 (US$615,000) from the lavish spread earlier in June, bringing the asking price down to £5 million, listing records show.

The six-bedroom house, on a posh private estate in the village of Oxshott, roughly 20 miles from central London, spans close to 8,000 square feet, according to the listing with estate agency Savills. The brokerage could not immediately be reached for comment.

It’s fitted with monochrome interiors, including glossy white floors, black kitchen countertops and grey marble bathrooms. There’s also a sweeping staircase lined with plush grey carpet, French doors, oversized windows and a “sumptuous” master bedroom suite with a balcony and dressing area, the listing said.

Outside, a swimming pool and spa is joined by a barbecue area and garden kitchen, a putting green and three terraces.

The defender and his wife, Toni, bought the home in 2014 for £4.35 million, property records show.

Last year, the pair paid £4.35 million, once more, for a brick and flint country house on the outskirts of the nearby village of Cobham. The seven-bedroom mansion comes complete with a tennis court, stables and a pool.

Mr. Terry, who spent almost two decades at Chelsea, is considered the team’s most successful skipper. Under his lead, the squad won five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, a UEFA Europa League title and a UEFA Champions League title-the most prestigious club competition in European football.

He’s currently the assistant head coach at Birmingham-based Aston Villa, where he spent the last season of his playing career before retiring in 2018. Mr. Terry could not be reached for comment.
