Fans Rush Nigeria, Portugal Friendly Tickets

With just three days to the mouth-watering friendly clash between Nigeria and Portugal, viagogo, the website in charge of the sales of match tickets for the game, says the tickets are fast selling, with fans anxious to watch the match.

The friendly between the three-time African champions and the 2016 European champions is slated for Thursday at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.

It was learnt that more than 45,000 tickets had been sold out for the match. According to viagogo, less than two per cent of the tickets are available, an indication that about 49,000 tickets have been sold for the game at the 50,095-capacity Estadio Jose Alvalade.

“Less than two per cent of total tickets in this venue currently available on our site,” the website wrote.

“This event is selling fast for the Portugal National team on our site.”

While Portugal will use the encounter as a warm-up in the build-up to the World Cup in Qatar, Nigeria will hope to end their international friendly misery, having failed to muster a win in their last 12 friendlies.
Both managers, Jose Peseiro and Fernando Santos, released their squads for the international friendly last Friday.

For the Super Eagles, Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, was on Monday ruled out of the encounter with no reason given for his withdrawal, but the team has plenty of exciting talents in the in-form Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi among others.

On his part, Santos named Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo in his squad alongside Bruno Fernandes, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and AC Milan youngster Rafael Leão in his 26-man squad.

Following the announcement of the squads by both coaches, Portuguese and Nigerian residents in Lisbon have joined the rush for the match tickets for the international tune-up game between the Qatar World Cup-bound Seleção and the Eagles, as the last batch went on sale on Monday.

The first phase of the ticket sales began on October 14 with varying prices of €10, €15 and €20.

According to the Portuguese FA, last tickets are on sale at retail outlets on the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol online ticket office.
