Four Die In An Explosion

No fewer than four persons have been killed in an explosion that rocked the palace of the paramount ruler of Ebiraland in the ancient town of Okene, the Ohinoyi, Dr Ado Ibrahim.

The explosion occurred while the President, Muhammadu Buhari (retd) was being expected to arrive in the state for the inauguration of Governor Yahaya Bello’s projects.

One of the projects was the Okene hospital which is opposite the palace.

According to an eyewitness, a car exploded, killing two persons inside it and affecting the back gate of the palace.

The charred corpses were sighted at the scene of the explosion even as security operatives sealed up the area.

An eyewitness, who spoke to thenewsmen, said, “I was in the house when I heard a loud explosion; by the time I came out, I saw a car on fire, along with two motorcycles, close to the second gate of the Ohinoyi’s palace. The explosion was massive, with three bodies on the ground around the palace.”

The Kogi Police Public Relations Officer, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, who confirmed the incident, described it as “very unfortunate and shocking.”

Ovye-Aya said the police were on top of the situation as security operatives had already sealed up the area.

He said investigation into the explosion had begun.

  1. Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye has called on Indigenes of Osun State who may be interested in joining the Nigerian Airforce through it Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) to apply now that the online application portal is open.

    Hon Igbalaye made the call through a press statement made available to news men on Friday.

    According to the Statement, “all interested Osun Indigenes to obtain their Free of charge online application and other eligiblity details about the enlistment exercise on http://www.nafrecruitment airforce.mil.ng.”

    Hon Igbalaye equally implored all interested applicants to be proactive and be steadfast about the registration ,noting that the portal would be closed on Monday,30th January,2023 .

    The statement said “Part of the eligibility criteria contain in the statement indicates that, all interested applicants must be single and of Nigerian origin by birth.”

    “Applicants must not be less than 1.66metre tall for males and 1.63 metres for female”

    “Interested applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years with the exception of Medical Consultants that should be between the ages of 25 to 40 years.,” the statement concluded
