Group Begs Buhari To Sign VGN Bill Before Leaving Office

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to Vigilante bill seeking legal backing for the security outfit, already passed into law by the National Assembly.

The National Assembly had passed the VGN (Establishment) Bill 2022 into law, but awaits the presidential assent.

The Commandant General of the Group, Dr Usman Jahun said this in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while speaking with newsmen during his visit to the VGN men in South West.

Jahun urged Buhari to sign the bill before the expiration of his tenure in May.

He said “the bill had been passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

“Our message to Mr. President is that before he leaves office on May 29, we are pleading with him to please sign this bill for the sake of Nigerians so that there will be more peace and security in the country.”

While speaking on the need for the group, Jahun said the body, if given the legal backing, would create more jobs and allow the VGN operatives to fill the security gaps currently existing in the country.
