
Newcomers Adorable Babes of Ilorin on Thursday defeated their more illustrious opponents Kada Queens of Kaduna 29-25 at the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball League at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
Babes now have two wins from three games despite their underdogs status as debutants in the league.
Desert Queens lost to Safety Babes 31-16 in another match in the female category.
In the men’s category, champions Kano Pillars beat Plateau Vipers 34-21, while Rima Strikers lost to Lagos Seasiders 29-28.
Pillars coach, Solomon Yola, said, “We want to do everything possible to retain our title. We have all the players that won the title and we have promoted players from our junior side to the first team. So, we are strong and good to go.”
On Friday (today), Lagos Seasiders will take on Delta Force, Safety Shooters lock horns with COAS Shooters, Kano Pillars and Kada Stars battle for points, while Desert Queens play Defender Babes.
Also, Plateau Peacocks will slug it out with Kada Queens, with Benue Queens battling Edo Dynamos.
Vipers are up against Borno Spiders, Seasider Babes and Imo Grasshoppers square up, Rima Strikers take on Niger United, Safety Babes confront Adorable Angels, while Confluence Stars battle D: Defenders.
