The Ogun State Police Command has arrested an herbalist, Kunle Adeyemi, and three others for allegedly defrauding one Imoleayo Ashade of N1.3m.
The police also recovered from the suspect a box containing various denominations of fake currencies, charms and a cash sum of N1,310,000.
Others arrested at the shrine in the Ijagun area of Ijebu-Ode, are Salau Taiwo, Tajudeen Jimoh and Adebayo Akeem.
The state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, who took journalists round the crime scene on Thursday, said the arrests were made by the Awa-Ijebu Police Division with the support of members of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress and vigilantes in the area.
Ajogun said the suspects would be arraigned at the end of investigation.
The victim, while speaking to journalists, said she once assisted two men with accommodation at her family house.
She explained that the men lured her to the hideout and promised to return her favour by rendering spiritual financial assistance to her.
Ashade said they promised to help her with her business, only to defraud her.
Explaining their mode of operation, the herbalist, who hails from Osun State, said he took the victim for a consultation with the oracle for money rituals.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, AIG. Olusola Subar (retd.), said the law would take its course in the matter.
