If I were to marry a footballer, I’ll pick Okocha – Chigul

Comedienne, Chioma Omeruah, popularly known as ‘Chigul’, has sensationally revealed that she would pick Nigerian football legend Austin Okocha if she was asked to marry a footballer.

The multi-talented entertainer made this known during her interview on an Online TV programme, Stars Talk Football, on Thursday.

Chigul, daughter of Air Commodore Emeka Omeruah, a former sports minister and Nigeria Football Federation boss, said her late father, who was passionate about football, had entertained several footballers in his house, including Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Daniel Amokachi amongst others.

Responding to a question on who she would pick if she was to have a football spouse, the ‘Banana Island Ghost’ actor was quick to mention former Super Eagles midfielder Okocha, popularly known as Jay-Jay.

“It is a tough question but I will go with Jay-Jay because I know him and we relate well,” Chigul said.

“He will not dribble me inside the house. Dribbling is for the field.”

She added, “My father loved football, national team players used to come to the house: Kanu, Okocha and a whole lot of people. My father was very interested in their lives as young players, and always wanted them to be better.”

Chigul, however, stated that she’s never admired any footballer.

“I have never had a crush on footballers because I don’t see them often. I’m into entertainment, so my eyes are more on the TV looking at actors and musicians. I know that footballers, because they make a lot of money, have a flock of women around them. Sometimes they are more in the news over their life drama than what they’ve done on the pitch,” she added.

Former Eagles captain Okocha is one of Africa’s most famous footballers and featured for Enugu Rangers, Eintracht Frankfurt, Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce, Bolton Wanderers amongst others in a career that spanned over two decades.
