
IMO State Government on Monday inaugurated the Local Government Community Policing in the state with HRH Eze Dr. Emmanuel Okeke as the chairman.
Other traditional rulers inaugurated as principal officers are Ezes David Osuagwu, Thomas Obiefule and Goddy Okeke as Deputy Chairmen for Owerri Zone, Orlu Zone and Okigwe Zone respectively.
To chair the LGAs in Orlu geopolitical zone are HRH Ezes Sampson Okwudinma, Dr. Innocent Okoligwe, Joel Udenkwo and Franklin Okafor for Orlu, Orsu, Nkwerre and Oguta LGAs respectively.
The monarchs; Jude Uwalaka, John Agbugba, Dan Emereonye, Cyprian Eze, Patrick Uwalaka and Iheanacho Ndukwe, were inaugurated as chairmen of the community policing in Ihitte Uboma, Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano, Onuimo, Obowo and Okigwe LGAs respectively in Okigwe Zone.
Speaking during the inauguration at the Eze Imo palace, the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Security, Dan Okoro, thanked the governor for choosing the royal fathers to man community policing in their LGAs.
Okoro, who is a former Police Commissioner, said, “The governor has high regards for traditional institution. And as the Chief Security Officer of the state, he deemed it necessary to pick these ezes on his own volition to help in maintaining crime-free LGAs in the state.
Advising them to be disciplined in the community policing assignment, Okoro told them to ensure that their efforts were felt by the governor.
In his speech, the Chairman of Nkwerre LGA and the traditional ruler of Ishiala Umudi in Nkwerre LGA, HRH Eze Joel Udenkwo (Eze Udo I) said that all the ezes in the LGA would be briefed on the importance of the community policing for a smooth take-off of the assignments.
