The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has started sorting sensitive electoral materials for distribution to the 44 local government areas of Kano State. This followed the collection of card readers and ballot papers from the state branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mallam Garba Mohammed, confirmed this development in a telephone interview. He explained that non-sensitive materials had already been dispatched to the various local governments as part of efforts to ease challenges posed by logistics.
Mallam Mohammed said that hoping to begin the distribution of the sensitive materials such as card readers and ballot papers when they finish sorting. INEC also said that they are still sorting the items local government by local government as they receive them from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
