Judge’s ex-house help arraigned for ‘stealing’ $38,000 jewellery

A former domestic worker for a High Court judge, Peace Anyawu, was arrested on Monday in a Lagos court in Igbosere for allegedly stealing jewelry worth $ 38,000.
Attorney Sergeant. Chinedu Njoku told the court that Anyanwu, 22, and two others conspired to commit the alleged offense.
Njoku stated that the incident took place at D5, Millenium Estate, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, between July 2019 and October 26, 2019. He stated that the stolen jewelry belonged to judge Bola Okikiolu-Ighile.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
Anyanwu’s alleged accomplices also pleaded not guilty. However, the court refused to bail them out.
The Botoku magistrate ordered that the file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice. The case was adjourned until March 23 of this year.
