LASUTH gets 20-bed COVID-19 quarantine bay

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday inaugurated a 20-bed COVID-19 isolation bay at the Lagos State University Hospital.

The news was posted by the Lagos State Ministry of Health via its verified Twitter handle.

The governor, who was represented by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, said the initiative was in continuation of the state’s effort to flatten the COPVID-19 curve.

“Today, it was a pleasure to represent Mr. Governor at the formal inauguration of the isolation bay for confirmed COVID-19 cases; located within the premises of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

“The purpose-built self-contained 20-bed holding bay facility has provision for four intensive care units with high-tech medical equipment and personnel,” she said.

She also noted that the facility would provide specialised high care services to confirmed COVID-19 patients and allow for LASUTH to manage and treat COVID-19 cases and other forms of contagious diseases in the long run.

“It is a time to remain conscious of the pandemic and continue to intensify efforts at flattening the curve.

“While the Lagos State Government continues with the positive-yielding efforts to manage the pandemic, residents must not relent in observing all the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols,” she stated.

“Let us continue to wash our hands regularly, maintain social distance and use our face masks,” she added.

As of Wednesday, Nigeria has recorded 59,583 confirmed cases out of 543,415 samples tested, 51,308 recovered cases and 1,113 deaths.
