Strange: 80-Year Old Father Machetes Son For Cutting Down Tree

A 35-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was attacked by his father for uprooting his avocado trees in Kenol, Murang’a county, Kenya.

A statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), on Tuesday said that the victim, George Mwangi angered his father after cutting down the trees without his content.

According to DCI, the 80-year-old man confronted the son who in defiance threatened the old man with some consequences for his actions.

“A man is fighting for his life at Thika level 5 hospital after he was attacked by his father for uprooting his avocado trees,” the statement read.

“In the incident that occurred in Kenol, Murang’a county, George Mwangi Ng’ang’a, 35, had walked into his father’s farm and cut down the trees which bear the rear to find tropical delicacy, much to the chagrin of the old man.

“When his 80-year-old father confronted him over his decision to cut down the trees without his consent, the boy became defiant and murmured in a manner likely to suggest that his father’s days below the sun were numbered, therefore he shouldn’t make decisions affecting the future of the farm.

“At this point, the furious octogenarian reached for a machete and went after the son, saying in the local dialect “dikugaywo di muoyo!” ( I will not be inherited while still alive). Luckily, the machete missed the son’s jugular and landed on the left side of his chest inflicting a life threatening injury.

“Efforts by the man’s 68-year-old wife Cecilia Njeri to separate the two were fruitless, as her son bit the finger with which his mother fed him and almost paid for it with his life.

“Close relatives who responded to the incident rushed the young man to Thika level five hospital where he is currently recuperating. Detectives based at Kenol police station are handling the matter.”
