Man in court for stealing policeman’s motorcycle

A 20-year-old man, Mumini Huseeni, on Monday, appeared before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly stealing a motorcycle belonging to a police sergeant.

The defendant was said to have perpetrated the crime at the Police Barracks, Oke Fia, Osogbo.

Huseeni admitted stealing the motorcycle and begged for leniency.

The police prosecutor, Kayode Adepoju, informed the court that the defendant stole a Jincheng motorcycle on July 2, 2020, inside the barracks.

According to him, the motorcycle is valued at N100,000 and belongs to one Sergeant Ashiru Idris.

The offence was said to be contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9)(10A) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. ll, Law of Osun State, 2002.

The defendant had no legal representation and pleaded guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor sought an adjournment for the presentation of facts.

The presiding magistrate, Modupe Awodele, ordered Huseeni to be remanded in the Ilesha Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter till July 27, 2020, for hearing.
