Man sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempting to defile an eight-year-old child

A district court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Tuesday sentenced unemployed worker Bashiru Osho to 12 years in prison for trying to defile an eight-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate F. A Azeez sentenced Osho to 12 years ‘imprisonment based on the convicts’ statement and evidence from the victim’s medical report, reports the Nigeria news agency (NAN).
Prosecuting counsel, Inspector John Iberedem, told the court that the accused had committed the offense on February 29 at No. 44 Igbogbo Road, in the Igbogbo-Baiyeku area of ​​Ikorodu.
The prosecutor stated that the offense violated article 262 of Lagos State criminal law, 2015.
