Nigerian mixed martial arts fighter, Israel Adesanya, is keen on extending his unbeaten run when he takes on Paulo Costa in his 20th Ultimate Fighting Championship match on September 27. The fight is Adesanya’s second title defence after his unanimous win against Yoel Romero in March.
Both Adesanya and Costa are undefeated in their professional MMA careers and are coming off decision wins against Romero. Costa also outpointed the Cuban in August 2019.
Costa is undefeated in 13 professional fights with 11 knockouts while Israel holds a record of 19 fights, 19 wins, 14 knockouts, and no losses and has risen to the summit of the UFC middleweight division within two years.
“That’s the aim to stay unbeaten,” he replied when asked about the fight on Instagram.
The two middleweights ran into each other in Abu Dhabi on Sunday ahead of their UFC 253 title fight.
Costa, is regarded as a dangerous middleweight with brutal power in his hands but not as tactical as Adesanya.
Brazilian Costa claims Adesanya is too skinny and fragile, while “The Last Style Bender” calls Costa an “overly inflated balloon animal” who’s on steroids.
Costa has denied the PED allegations and has never failed drug tests under USADA’s oversight.
