As directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, banks, on Saturday in Osogbo resumed operation while some customers were seen withdrawing money from the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) .

A visit by OSBC Correspondent to some banks in Osogbo like UBA, Wema among other, customers were seen on queues apparently waiting for ATMs to dispense cash.

A customer Mr. Wasiu Oladele while speaking with our correspondent said the situation has improved as he was able to withdraw N20,000 at a go at the Wema Bank.

“I spent around an hours and I am happy to be able to withdrawal N20,000 . Although it was old notes, but at least, it’s better than before where after spending hours, you go home with nothing.”

Reacting to the Naira Policy of the Federal Government, Mr. Oladele said ” The Policy is good but implementation of it was wrong. The policy is lawful and constitutional but should have been made in such a way that would not cause hardship to the citizen.

Also speaking, another customer, Mrs. Titi Adebodun said “We want the situation to be better because we’ve really suffered in the past. How can we have money in the bank and we can’t be able to withdraw it? Is it not our money?

“we hope the incoming government would do something with it, in such a way that getting the new naira notes from banks will not be too difficult.”

Recall that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had confirmed the evacuation of banknotes from its vaults to commercial banks across the country as part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations.

The CBN has also directed all commercial banks to open for operation on Saturdays and Sundays.
