NASS Asks Govs To Pass Constitution Review Bills

The leadership of the National Assembly on Monday begged Governors of the 36 States to save the ongoing Constitution Review exercise by passing the amendment Bills before them.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan made the call at the second “Distinguished Parliamentarians lecture series 2022” organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja.

The lecture titled: ”Delivering on our contract with Nigerians: Implementing the Legislative Agenda of the 9th House of Representatives – progress, challenges and way forward” was delivered by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila lamented that the Constitution Review exercise had been stalled due to the refusal of State Houses of Assembly to pass the Bills.

Lawan appealed to Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who was the Chairman of the event, to help the National Assembly to beg his Governor colleagues to facilitate the passage of the bills now before their Houses of Assembly.
