OAU student: Court declines defendants’ bail applications

An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has declined the bail applications filed of all the defendants arraigned in connection with the death of a Master’s Degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke.

The court had earlier dismissed a bail application of the owner of Hilton Royal Hilton, Ile-Ife, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin.

Although the court observed that the charges pressed against Adedoyin were bailable, it noted that they were serious felony charges that could attract jail term.

Justice Adepele Ojo, while ruling on the bail applications of other six defendants namely; Adedeji Adesola, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwale Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem and Adebayo Kunle, dismissed the applications.

Ojo said the health reasons that the applications were based on could not be relied on as the defendants’ health could not be said to be threatened.

Adedoyin and six others arrested in connection with the death Timothy Adegoke had been arraigned and remanded till Monday for ruling on their bail applications.
