Obasanjo Urges DRC To Invest In Agriculture

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria urges the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to invest more in agriculture than before to reduce Africa’s $50 billion annual food import bill.

Obasanjo stated this in the official inauguration of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture [IITA], Kalambo Research Station by President Felix Tshisekedi, in Bukavu, DRC, and was named The President Olusegun Obasanjo Research Station, to honour the former Nigerian President who is also an IITA’s Goodwill Ambassador.

The event had in attendance, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank AFDB, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalegn, among others.
