Caretaker Committee Chairman of Idanre Local Government, Mr. Jerome Akinsuyi, has assured of support for victims of last Saturday rainstorm that caused havoc in parts of Alade Idanre, Ondo state
Over 70 houses including electricity poles were affected in the community after a heavy rainstorm.
One of the buildings was said to have collapsed on an old woman and she died before rescue at could get to her.
Areas affected included Idimilokun, Oke-Ibukun and Police Station roads.
Car park of the General Hospital in the locality was reduced to rubble while the perimeter fencing of a retired Justice of the Supreme Court in the area was also affected.
One of the victims, Mr. Adewale Afolabi at said the roof of his family building was blown off.
Afolabi stated that he would require the sum of N200, 000 to fix the roof.
Other victims called on the state government to provide them with support to enable them repair their buildings and get back to business.
The Ojomu of Alade Idanre, High Chief Akinrinlola and the lawmaker representing Idanre in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Festus Akingbaso, called for calm and promised to engage the state government to provide palliatives to the victims.
The Council boss said inventory of the victims has been compiled for onward delivery to appropriate government agency.
He stated that the state government through the State Emergency Management Agency would compensate the victims.
