Chief Medical Director of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure, Dr. Oluwole Ige, has said that the 70 year- old- patient admitted on suspected case of CONVID-19 is in stable condition.
Ige cautioned against panic measures because it was yet to be confirmed if the patient had been infected.
Ige said the patient had cough, pneumonia and other symptoms but has been stabilised and isolated.
He said the patient presented symptoms associated with CONVID-19 and was promptly isolated.
According to him: “It is an unconfirmed case. We have collected samples and waiting for the results but the people should not panic.
“We are prepared to handle infectious cases because we have been handling lassa fever here.
“Our staff understand the situations but it is important journalists passed the right information across so as not to cause a panic situation.”
