As reactions continue to trail the disclosure of Osun’s Debt, the State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said the recent disclosures by Governor Ademola Adeleke are part of the twin agenda to clean up the state finance and commence sustainable governance.
A release by the State caretaker chairman of Osun state PDP, Dr. Akindele Adekunle also explained that the development is in fulfillment of Senator Adeleke’s pledge to run an open government which is the foundation for achieving good governance.
Reacting to the address of the Governor on the state’s debt profile, Dr. Adekunle described the debt question as “a subject of secrecy for so long with attendant negative consequences on the state’s finance, investors’ perception and general well being of Osun people” adding that what the APC was covering up is now in public domain.
The State Chapter of PDP accused the immediate past administration over his conduct in handling the state’s debt profile and commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for his transparency and accountability in the management of state affairs.
He noted that “Osun people genuinely appreciate Governor Adeleke for opening the state books for all to see pointing out that it takes courage and commitment for a leader to act the way the Governor did.”
The ruling party in Osun State remarked that former Governor Oyetola could not in anyway exonerate himself from the current Osun debt profile having been the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola for eight years before his one term rule.
The PDP assured Osun people that Governor Adeleke is not weakened in his resolve to deliver on his five point agenda promising that the administration has mapped out extensive plans to deliver on good governance which are currently under implementation.
He however made it clear that those culpable in the pillaging of Osun state will have their days before the law.
