
Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has observed that roles of women in society are critical, therefore, the female gender must be supported to realise the potentials and perform such crucial roles.
The Governor made the observation when launching the State of Osun Gender-Based Violence Management Committee at the Goverment House, Osogbo.
The Committee headed by the First Lady,Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, is to see to protection of women and children in the State.
According to Mr Oyetola, huge population of women in society makes them a force to reckon with in socioeconomic development of any society. He therefore remarked that the entire society owes it a duty to stand against rape and other fiendish acts against women,girls and children.
He charged members of the Committee to bring Integrity trust dedication and diligence to their assignment.
Wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, called on legal and legislation stakeholders to ensure enactment and implementation of laws that would a put to rape,explaining that out to court settlement of rape cases and appealing to victims not to talk push up the beast in some to perpetrate the act.
There were goodwill messages from the Speaker,Hon Timothy Owoeye, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Olubukola Olaboopo,Commissioner for health and the Attorney General Dr Rafiu Usamotu and Mr Femi Akande who all agreed that no punishments are too severe for the animal called a rapist.
