OSUN UNITED VS THE LEAKING TUNNEL

I worked as an editor in the News and Current Affairs Department of OSBC and to God be the glory, I learnt a lot from my bosses on what news is, how to write, edit and package everything about news.

Due respect to my closest bosses such as Oluwatoyin Yusuf now with Governor Oyetola, Jamiu Olawumi, now the SA to Governor Oyetola on Education, Tunde Adeyemo, Abiodun Olalere former NUJ Chairman, Motunrayo Ayegbayo NAWOJ Chairperson as well as Jagaban of osbc newsroom, Akinola Owolabi and several others I can’t mention here. In sports kudos to my ogas, Muideen Adeleke, Babatunde Fanawopo now with OSSIEC and Charles Efosa Odigie now in Anambra State, all whom I drank from their pots of knowledge.

Believe me, Newsroom is the most difficult unit of every media department and if you can cope with the happenings, issues and challenges in the newsroom, you can cope anywhere you find yourself.

I don’t know how I was considered to be appointed as the Media Officer of Osun United but this may not be unconnected with being a sports reporter, editor and presenter for almost a decade, coupled with the fact that I played the round leather game for the State of Omoluabi in the past.

This should have been factored as necessary experience required to function effectively as Osun United’s Media Officer by those who suggested my name, and thus it is.

However, many people have taken me up severally that I haven’t been doing my job very well because Osun United stories are firstly got broken somewhere else but not from the Media Officer and it wasn’t like that during the era of the previous management.

Honestly it’s true and has been happening since I became the MO of Osun United. As people are always amazed, so do I because it’s funny that stories about Osun United are first shared elsewhere, without my knowledge.

The question is why am I the Media Officer of the team if I don’t know what’s going on? Why should stories about the team got to be broken elsewhere and not from Osun United’s platform?

What our people should know is that as a media officer, I am not meant to attend every meeting of the management except if am invited. However, the management, technical crew and the team should relate well with the media officer, who is in the best position to inform the public.

But in a situation whereby a member or some members of the management and/or backroom staff believe in sharing hot information, even at the point of the meeting with someone else and their loyalist instead of the media officer, what do I do? I tried severally to let them know the implications of such but I got to know that it’s a deliberate attempt to paint me black before fans and supporters whom I respect so much because some of them would call to ask me what’s happening in the house.

This is why there hasn’t been any secret or privacy about Osun United which has been capitalised upon by the pot that called the kettle black. However, I see this as a good thing to put the management on the right path because any attempt to do something illegal, the story is already on the social media.

This new management is not a forum where a single person can decide for all others or enforce his wish because all are competent, wise and intelligent people from across Osun.

As for me back then, before I could air or discuss something concrete, particularly about Osun United on AM Sports, SMT Sports or Ere Idaraya Opin Ose which I anchored on OSBC, I would ask the person in charge or bring him into the studio for clarification or engage him on live telephone conversation because he was the best person and in the best position to hit the nail on the head and break the breakables or confirm what the Oracle had said. I never jumped the ladder.

Nonetheless, I will continue to do my best in feeding people with authentic news about Osun United no matter what is being done elsewhere. We shouldn’t also forget that there are rooms for rumours and gossips too, which to me, are welcome, if done in good faith.

To the board member(s) technical crew and/backroom staff who relate with outsider instead of going through the normal process, who believe in painting the media officer and good people among the board members black, I thank you. People who know me can testify that I do my things accordingly, with proper verification and findings, although noone is perfect, except Allah.

The dove is chanting as if the pigeon does not understand unknowing that the pigeon understands, it is only pretending. (to whom it may concern)
