Chief Executive Officer of Hammola Int’l FC Muhydeen Odeyemi has commended the performance of his players against Remo Stars FC, saying they lost to a better team.
Speaking with journalists after the game which ended 4 -2 in favour of the “Sky Blue Stars”, Odhelee as he is popularly called said scoring two goals against a star-studded NPFL team showed an improvement in the team and a sign of quality attacking force.
“There was an improvement in the game against Remo Stars even though we lost. We led twice with two beautiful goals but later surrendered to Remo who showed their class as an NPFL team. Our performances in the game and against Tornadoes were not bad at all.
“This is our first appearance in this God Cup tournament and we’re happy to be paired with big teams in NPFL. It’s a good test for us to play against Niger Tornadoes, Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars and even Gateway United who are all far above us.
“I am happy with people’s comments about our team from those who saw the two games live and our fans who watched the live matches. This is why we are here as we’ve been able to show the world the quality of players we have and the strength of our team.”
Speaking on the plans for the team in subsequent trials, Muhydeen said “we are still in NLO 1 and we hope to gain promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) next year. Hammola is just in its second year of establishment and we have made some landmark achievements. We are one of the best in Osun State and we won’t rest on our oars until we get to the top.”
