
Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has reiterated that the proactive nature of his administration on water way and drainage clearing has tremendously helped Osun State against the flood disaster that recently ravaged most of the States in Nigeria.
Governor Oyetola made the disclosure in Osogbo during the verification of the relief Materials donated by the Federal Government of Nigeria to the Vulnerable people that were affected by 2022 flood disaster in Osun State noted that Osun was ranked lowest among the States affected by flood in the country.
Governor Oyetola,,who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji maintained that his administration always considered and put the well-being of all the citizens of the State in a top priority in all areas of governance .
According to Governor Oyetola ,the Monthly Food Support Programme, Osun Health Insurance Scheme,timely Payment of Salaries, Pension and gratuities, Construction and Rehabilitations of various Roads were all gear towards making life better for the people of the State.
Governor Oyetola held that ,since inception of his administration ,Osun has been in the good book of National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) by receiving notable assistance and distributing same without political interference.
Governor Oyetola also assured the leader of the NEMA team that the new relief Materials brought to Osun State vulnerable people would be distributed accordingly without ethinics ,religious or political discrimination .
Earlier in his address,the Director General National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA), Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed said that The results of the assessment carried out by critical stakeholders has indicated that about 4,200 households were affected by the floods, several houses destroyed,
while cultivated hectares of farmlands were submerged.
NEMA DG,Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed who was represented by Mr Slake Lugard Bijimi said ,it was based on the assessment reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR approved the release of 12,000 metric tons of assorted grains from the National Strategic Reserve Stock for distribution to all states of the Federation .
In his remark, the General Manager for Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) Mr Amos Adejinle appreciated the NEMA Team and the Federal Government for their support to the vulnerable people in Osun State at all times.
He lauded the Governor for creating an enabling environment for OSEMA to operate without any hindrance..
