
The Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has reiterated that
Osun State will continue to soar high as a leading State that gives social protection programmes a pride of place among other committee of States.
Governor Oyetola made this disclosure at the Flag off of Cash Grants support to vulnerable households affected by Banditry in the State of Osun, organised by Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs ,Disaster Management and Social Development in collaboration with Osun State Government, held at the Staff Development Centre, Osogbo, on Wednesday.
Governor Oyetola who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji noted that over 14 social investment programmes targeted at the poor people, the youths, Women and school children have been implemented by his administration with positive impact recorded.
According to Governor Oyetola, 10, 000 vulnerable youths were taken away from the streets, and were being paid N7,500 monthly Under the Special Grant Transfer which is designed to provide life-sustaining assistance for the aged and people living with disabilities, over 15, 000 aged and people living with disabilities were receiving N20, 000 each on every quarter.
Governor Oyetola further revealed that his administration had equally distributed Osun Health Insurance Scheme and Basic Health Provision Fund cards to the vulnerable in the State to enable them access basic health care as well as the digitization of payment to household Upliftment Programme/Conditional Cash Transfer beneficiaries in the State.
The Osun helms man also said that his admistration introduced the Osun Food Support Scheme to reach out to 30, 000 vulnerable citizens monthly across the State.
The Governor then expressed hope that the State and the Federal government will continue to partner to give a new lease of life to the people to enable them survive the ongoing global economic realities, stressing that his admistration will continue to work to lead the State out of the economic downturn ravaging the world.
