The Langtang North General Hospital in Plateau state has been shut down following the confirmation of two fresh cases of Covid-19 at the facility.
It was learnt that 29 other health workers at the general hospital had been quarantined as well.
The closure of the general hospital in Lantang North brings to three the number of health facilities that had been shut down in the state as a result of COVID-19
The Chairman of the Lantang North Local Government Area, Ubandoma Laven, said those tested positive of the pandemic were laboratory scientists working with the general hospital in the council.
He said, “As a result of this, 29 health workers in the hospital are being quarantined for two weeks while their family members will be monitored. I am appealing to the people of the local government to remain calm and heed to the safety rules already set by the World Health Organisation”
He further enjoined the people to observe all covid-19 protocols.
The state Commissioners of Health, Dr Nimkong Lar, said the hospital had been shut while workers of the affected department were being tested.
