The Osun State Police Command on Thursday assured that all hoodlums involved in the invasion of lfeoluwa Co-Educational Grammar School, Osogbo, would be arrested.
A spokesperson for the command, Yemisi Opalola, in an interview said the suspect arrested at the scene of the incident was still being held by the police and would be used to hunt other culprits.
“We received a distress call from Ifeoluwa School, Osogbo, that a group of youths numbering about 20 invaded the school with cutlasses and other weapons.
“On receipt of the information, we deployed men to the scene and a suspect was arrested with a machete cut on his left arm and head. He was rushed to the Osogbo Central Hospital for treatment,” Opalola said.
The Osun State Government had earlier on Thursday announced closure of the school till further notice because its premises were invaded by suspected cultists.
The state government, in a statement by the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Education, Kehinde Olaniyan, explained that the closure of the school was to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
The statement read in part, “This is to inform the general public, especially parents, guardians and students of the lfeoluwa Co-Educational Grammar School, Osogbo, that the Commissioner for Education has directed that the school be closed down until further notice.
“This step is necessary to prevent a breakdown of law and order occasioned by the invasion of the school by hoodlums and cultists masquerading as students.
“Parents and guardians are advised to keep their children and wards at home while the closure lasts.”
