Kola Akanji studied English at the university of Ibadan and graduated in 1981. He had his post-graduate diploma in mass communication before joining the newly established Television Service of Oyo State (TSOS) in 1982 which later metamorphosed to Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) Nigeria in 1985. While a Principal Editor with BCOS, he was appointed as the Press Secretary to the first Military Administrator of Osun State, Col. Leo Ajiborisha.
He rose to become the Chief Press Secretary in the first civilian administration of Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, holding the same position for three more military administrators after him before bowing out of service. He thereafter set up his own Education/Media Consultancy firm and moved into full politics where he was party to the formation of AD, CNC, DPN, ANPP, and APC and has since then held and contested political positions at different times under the banner of these parties winning and losing some.
Presently, he’s the Chairman, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC). He has received numerous awards of excellence on information management, commitment and support to youth movements and educational development. He’s married and blessed with very promising children.
