The leadership of Osun Security Network/ Amotekun Corps on Friday commenced the assessment of the designated location for the training of the prospective applicants in the State.
The visit was to demonstrate the readiness of the State towards ensuring a hitch-free training exercise.
Recall that the Board Chairman, Osun Security Network/Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Ademola Aderibigbe
(Rtd.), had on Wednesday issued a statement announcing Sunday 15th of August, 2021 as the commencement date of the training of the successful applicants.
According to him, the successful applicants were to report to Camp, at the Wole Soyinka Government High School, Ejigbo alongside their relevant credentials for certification.
Speaking during their on-the-spot assessment to the venue, Aderibigbe expressed satisfaction on the efforts put in place
to ensure a smooth running of the exercise.
Aderibigbe who was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige; Amotekun Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinbi (rtd.); Secretary, Osun Security Network Board, Barr. Hassan Agbelekale and Hon. Olubowale Olufemi (board member), proceeded to Ogiyan’s palace where they paid a homage/ condolence visit to the monarch over the demise of his wife.
Speaking at the palace, Aderibigbe noted that the leadership of the Board resolved to visit the town as part of efforts to assess the situation prior to the next Sunday’s training of the prospective corps.
He condoled the revered monarch, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin over the death of his Olori, saying the delegation deemed it fit to visit the venue of the proposed training as part of efforts to ensure all the necessary things capable of facilitating a successful exercise in the ancient town are in place before the date.
Aderibigbe noted that the venue was chosen in view of its outstanding facilities most importantly the required space for the exercise.
In his remarks, the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin appreciated the genuine spirit attached to the visit by the Amotekun leadership.
He also thanked the delegation for deeming it worthy to pay him a condolence visit, describing it “a rare honour.”
Oba Oyesosin who applauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his timely and prompt response to the incidence said, “Governor Oyetola called me when I lost my wife, I don’t even expect it, I thank him for finding me worthy.
“I must also commend Mr. Governor and the leadership of the Corps for choosing my town as a camping ground for the newly enlisted Amotekun personnel.
“I must assure you that you have my full support and I will be visiting you in the camp”, he said.
The revered monarch who described Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a great thinker and a good listener said “no doubt, Oyetola is performing creditibly well.”
